瓊林蔡氏的春季祠祭和清明墓祭每年都是由二十個「頭家」輪值。今年輪值的頭家中，有一個是已退役的蔡福來上校，他是中華民國獨一無二，前無古人，後無來者的「陵寢官」。
蔡福來是金門文武世家－瓊林蔡氏宗族的第二十九世裔孫。蔡氏子弟一生要「做頭」三次，負責備辦祭祖和合食所需要的供品。今年春祭和墓祭，蔡福來也是二十個頭家中的一個。
蔡福來曾經於民國六十年到六十三年在士林官邸擔任過蔣中正總統的警衛官；六十三年到七十七年則在七海官邸擔任蔣經國總統的內勤侍衛官。由於職務的關係，他與總統的距離比家人還近－蔣經國總統就是他抱著過世的。
他升上校後的十三天，蔣經國總統過世了；他自願在頭寮為蔣經國總統守靈三年；於是，國防部設了一個「陵寢官」的職銜給他；這個「陵寢官」的職銜在他守靈期滿之後，成了歷史名詞，從此不再設置。
後世對蔣經國總統可能有各種不同的評價；不過，對蔡福來而言，他就是個親切的人。蔣經國總統曾經巡視金門一百二十三次，蔡福來很多次都隨侍在側；每次回到金門，總統都會主動要他回家去看看父母。有一年清明節，蔣經國總統曾主動要放他假回金門家鄉掃墓。
每一年「清明」的前一天，瓊林蔡氏會在太武山麓的「徑林祖墳」舉辦墓祭。昨天，蔡福來以「頭家」身分參加了墓祭；這是他第三次當頭家；第一次是婚後做「新婚頭」。第一次和第二次因為服役的緣故，都是由父母代勞；這次則是由他自己親自為宗族盡本份。
「徑林祖墳」有三座瓊林蔡家的祖墓。一座是蔡靜山的墓，蔡靜山是瓊林蔡氏宗族的五世祖，也是開廓基業最重要的祖先。
還有一座是蔡安所（十三世）的墓－蔡安所是蔡宗德（十四世）的父親，也就是明代「父子進士」蔡貴易（十五世）、蔡獻臣（十六世）的祖父；瓊林原名平林，因為蔡獻臣學問純正，獲得表彰，平林也被御賜里名為瓊林。
另外一座是水師提督蔡攀龍的墓－蔡攀龍（二十世）因為平定臺灣林爽文之亂有功，被清高宗愛新覺羅·弘曆以御筆褒贊他為「臺灣戰將」中的「巨擘」（大拇指）。不過，由於蔡攀龍對福康安禮節不謹，遭福康安憎惡，被遽加無名之罪，抹去其功。福康安是乾隆皇帝的寵臣，曾因功被封為郡王；乾隆皇帝起初不理會福康安對蔡攀龍的貶抑，但蔡攀龍後來還是從水師提督被降調為總兵。
對於文武世家蔡氏祖先的光輝，蔡福來感到榮耀。瓊林宗祠的正廳兩牆有「忠孝廉節」四大個字；蔡福來認為這四個字，就是蔡氏子弟應該遵循的圭臬。
在蔣經國總統去世之後，蔡福來也退伍離開了軍中及總統官邸。蔡福來在上校止步，沒有當到將軍，對瓊林族人而言，這也是個遺憾。
